The new Hunger Games movie, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is told in a magnificent way through three, beautiful, separate parts under the same screening.

Tom Blythe does a wonderful job at portraying a young Coriolanus Snow who is faced with multiple challenges, moral dilemmas, and difficult choices. It is difficult going in to the movie understanding that Coriolanus Snow is supposed to be the villain when you see his story play out on screen. The plot does a phenomenal job at not only portraying Snow as a debatable character, but also telling his story in a well paced dynamic between fighting, singing, and tense dramatic moments. The cinematic shots are unparalleled and you will truly feel immersed. I remember going in to watch the movie on opening night and I was gripping my chair rooting for the villain — of all people!

The actor who plays Lucy Grey is phenomenal as well. While her actress, Rachel Zegler, may have had some controversy to start with due to some comments she made on her upcoming role in the live action Snow White, but she played her role incredibly well and her singing in the movie was raw and on point.

This is a movie worth seeing and it gives you a different perspective on an already well known character from a popular book series.
