When the Huskies boys basketball team had their first practice, the court was full of new faces == including Oceanside grads Cohen and Carter Galley, GNG grad Nate Herbert, sophomore Zay Bean, British freshman Lincoln Malcore, sophomore Jack Gedroge — along with returners Jayden Kim, Tave Cloutier, And Ty Rykhus.
The Huskies had one common goal: to win a NEPSAC Championship. After making a move to Class B, the Huskies had some work to do. Although the journey would be hard, the Huskies knew they could do it. Winning their first game by 69 points, the Huskies knew that their dream may become a reality. The Huskies won six in a row after dropping their first game back from break to a tough Holderness team.
The Huskies won 15 straight to finish the season 23-2 with a 10-0 home record a 10-2 Class B record — a school record for wins and back to back conference championship wins vs Hyde school. All the Huskies could do was wait to see if their hard work and dedication paid off with a bid to New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC).
Unfortunately, the Huskies did not get that bid. Some call it robbery; others call it life. What if the Huskies got the bid? Or what if the Huskies didn’t lose those two games? The season can be described as many words: historical, legendary, amazing, magical. But after this magical and historic run, we can truly say two words:
What if?
